First approach to Feng Shui

Among all the things an Event Planner has to think about while planning a successful event, we want to point out a new way of meditation that is taking place also in the Western society: we are talking about the Feng Shui discipline.

The work and analysis of an event require a huge amount of environmental information according to specifics principles and priorities, because they boost the relations between the guests.

“Feng Shui teaches you to control all this information thanks to a deep study of humans behavior from many perspectives: psychological, biological, chemical and hormonal. This type of study allow us to communicate directly to our instinct that is nothing more than a biological programming of the self-preservation, independent from the familiar and social features”, says Luna Rossi, CEO of the Kan Yu Association, teacher and researcher of the European Center of the Feng Shui Training and Creative Research.

Then she adds: “Feng Shui has a rich history and is based on philosophical studies, but is also a practicing discipline with the aim of helping people’s actions; in other words, it helps people to perform their tasks in the best way possible using the smaller amount of energies conceivable.

After graduating in high school, she took a degree in Fine Arts, and attended many courses in philosophy and psychology; finally, though, in 2007 Luna has found, in Feng Shui, all the answers she was looking for in her life.

I knew there was something in the space around us that could affect our behavior, and I wanted to use this influence to send an useful and creative message, also in my job at the theatre, for instance. I tried to use my knowledge through scenographies, not descriptive and textual, but searching for a pure and objective language to send suggestive messages.

Feng Shui is an endless discipline and this is the reason why it’s fascinating; it doesn’t follow just rules, but it is based on principles. Like Math uses numbers, so Feng Shui uses ideograms because it takes its fundamentals for the Chinese culture. Therefore it has a mystical and mysterious force, especially when we listen about energies and elements.

Speechless, I ask her a concrete example:

Thus, if we say WOOD, this information reminds us about sunrise, the perception of the epidermis, but also life, existence, growth and green; it gives us information about the environment.

Think about a high fence or a striped wall. So, this is an image that stimulates the instinct of research and catch, as if we were in a forest, and puts the person in a hyperactive state. This might be good for somebody who is looking for a setup to stimuli the guests, but it may be bad for who is looking to relax.

A better knowledge of Feng Shui for an Event Planner helps to rely on the notions just learned and it gives the chase to use them in the first phase of arrangement of a project of setups while creating, through the environment, messages and perceptions that will be felt by the guests, in order to enhance the message you want to communicate. The aim of Feng Shui is to control the subliminal messages sent by the environment avoiding negativity.

Hence, if you learn more about Feng Shui it will be easier to plan a better event, in order to give to your guests a new experience, while creating environmental messages that sustain the goal of the event itself.

The Kan Yu and Feng Shui Creative Association have, in fact, a two-days course in their educational program, in which you can explore useful notions about the discipline.

We introduce to you:
